The St Michael’s Institute exists to train men and women in leadership, mission and ministry in a way which is Spirit-filled, Word-based, generously orthodox and inclusive. We work across Australia and across denominations.
To see churches, organisations and individuals trained and equipped for Leadership and Mission for the renewal of the Australian church for the second half of the 21st century.
To deliver ministry training in a way which is Missional, Contextual, Flexible and Transformational.
That will lead to new churches being planted, existing churches being revitalised and Christian organisations (like schools) being led into mission. We seek to be grace-based, joy-filled, adventurous, creative, experimental and imaginative
The St Michael’s Institute was established in 2019 by a group of people with a vision to reimagine ministry training and development in Australia. We are acutely aware of the urgent need within the Australian church to develop men and women who will be our leaders in the second half of the 21st century.
As the Church faces huge challenges, and rapidly changes in shape, so we need new approaches to preparing emerging leaders to step into that future. The leadership development models of the past may have served us well previously, but we are convinced that there is a need for a new approach.
We are investing in providing leadership development which is Missional, Contextual and Transformational.
Missional: that is, leadership development which produces leaders who have an understanding of the culture in which they work, and who are able to speak compellingly and winsomely into that culture.
Contextual: that is, leadership development which is tailored to the specific situation in which leaders are operating, in order to produce leaders who lead in ways that are suited to their particular context.
Transformational: that is, leadership development which provides a context for people to experience genuine personal transformation, driven by the Holy Spirit.
